As more and more families join the homeschool movement, they find out that there are some drawbacks to it. So many parents just tell the good side. They forget to warn prospective parents that there is also a downside. Parents can’t make an informed choice without knowing both sides of the story. This leads to parents who are highly discouraged and frustrated, but already entrenched in their decision. This article is not meant to discourage parents, but give them the whole story. Many parents of homeschooled children have a difficult time deciding whether or not to use a prepackaged curriculum or not. Much of this indecision comes from the fear that the child will develop holes in their education without it. Sometimes the parent forgets to look at the big picture in this question. Weather Unit

This experiment is excellent for the study of a weather unit. The most common types of weather most children know about are thunderstorms and tornados. During the unit, I exposed the students to each type of weather. We watched videos of thunderstorms and blizzards. I also made certain to include all the books I could find on weather. (more…)
